Death By CultureLions, Tigers, The Timeline oh my!
POSTED BY VINNIE BLESI, March 12, 2012    Share

Every day I get a Facebook feed from some disgruntled Facebook user who is proclaiming their disdain, and demanding the removal, of the new Facebook “Timeline”.

I like the “Timeline”, it makes the pages look more like real webpages. One of the arguments of it’s critics is that it makes it too easy to read that embarrassing drug educed Ambien facebook post you made in 2010. Or that rant you made against your boss in 2009.

Facebook’s “Timeline” also makes it so convenient to delete or hide those posts from the evil “Timeline”.

Other people feel that “The Timeline” is a privacy invasion. I have news for those people, your life was long ago reduced to an icon on the Internet. It still amazes me that I find so many people who have public Facebook pages. Pages that are viewed by anyone, your employer, your lover, your stalker. So if you if your page is open to the public, stop it now. Please.

Facebook has become a necessary evil in our faceless world. Don’t become just become another icon. Don’t become someone whose life is dictated by social media.

Identity thief is at an all time high. Keep your personal information private, and if you are reading this and you are sharing personal information with anyone on the Internet, heed the warning.
