Mad Matt's Plastic People

EVIL DEAD   Good...Bad...I'm the guy with the gun.

Ash...what can I say about Ash that all of you don't already know!?! He's smooth, a real ladies man. He's a snappy dresser. He's a wiz in the tool shed! And for some reason, he always seems to get the CRAP beaten out of him...and yet he's always O.K.! I want to be just like Ash when I get sucked into a vortex!!!

First of all, I would like to thank Bruce Campbell for bringing Ash to life...not once but three times! I've seen Mr. Campbell in lots of different films and T.V. shows -- he's #1 of my 5 favorite actors -- I like him in any part that he plays, but Ash is Ash!!!

Now on to the plastic Ash! Once again I have to praise the folks at Sideshow Toys and the amazing headsculpts of Mat Falls. There are three versions of the loveable, bumbling, hero!!! Good Ash...Evil Ash...and "S-MART" Ash...All from the film "Army Of Darkness".

Good AshGood Ash comes in his blue shirt, brown pants, and hiking boots. He has his shoulder harness and belt a blue/green wrap, his right hand is removable and looks like armor, his hand can be replaced by his trusty (when it runs!) chainsaw, and of course, his back holster and "BOOM STICK": a 12-guage double-barrel Remington. S-Marts top if the line, you can find this in the sporting goods department, that's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids Michigan, retails for about $109.95, it's got walnut stocks, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger! Thats right, shop smart...shop S-Mart.

Evil AshEvil Ash comes with the same shirt, pants and boots...but they are ripped up and bloody/dirty. He has a chest piece that looks like human rib bones, but it's armor with shoulder, forarm, and upper thigh pieces as well. He has a ripped up red cape with a chain that goes around his neck to keep it on, a long sword that's all bloodied up, a scabbard for the sword, and a non-removable skull/helmet!!!

S-Mart Ash. I don't have one of these yet, they are VERY limited and hard to find. I've only seen pics of this Ash at the Sideshow toy website, however I can tell you that like all the Ash figures, he has over 20 points of articulation, realistic clothing from the film (this Ash is wearing an S-Mart smock!) and a very "cool Ash" headsculpt.

As with almost all of Sideshow's film figures, these guys come in a box with a cover that's a reproductoin of the movie poster, and cool pics on the back from the film. They also all come with a stand for displaying your figure -- that's why I always buy at least 2 of everything...one to display, one to keep in the box for whatever!

As always these guys are my favorite 12in.(1/6scale) format. I also have a 22in.Ash, but he's made by a different co., so we'll do them another time!!!

I bought my Ashes at the Big Top flea market from this really cool little toy/tattoo shop that I go to all the time. I'll get the address the next time I go for all of you. I paid $50.00 each for mine, but they are mint...never opened, and I only have these two, so there won't be any pics of them out of the box (I'm sure you all understand). These figures were released in 2002. The only retail store that I've seen them at is Spencer Gifts...they always have all the cool stuff!

I give 5 skulls to Sideshow Toys...again...and to Bruce Campbell for bringing Ash to life, and to Sam Raimi for starting it all!!!

Well, that's about it, you all should really check out Sideshow's site, they have some really cool stuff: www.sideshowtoy.com

Groovy...
