MORE CREATURE FEATURE MEMORIES
Nolan,
Thank you for the great Dr. Paul Bearer information! I
grew up in Plant
City during the 70s and the good Doctor was a huge part of
my childhood. I
met the great man at a Strawberry Festival parade one year
and was too
awestruck to say anything, but at least I got an autographed
picture.
I haven't been able to locate and Creature Feature tapes
for sale or online
clips. Do you know of any that are available? I would
especially be
interested in the tribute show since I moved away in 1986.
If I can obtain
some clips I'd like to digitize them and make them
available online.
Thanks again for the great site!
Anthony Trifiletti
Anthony, hello and thanks so much for writing! Always happy to meet a
fellow Creature Feature fan.
As we've noted before both here and on the Creature Feature Database, the tapes
occasionally put up for sale on eBay are the only known source
of Dr. Paul Bearer material. Any others are traded at local
conventions and the like.
We started the Database to collect any information we could on
the career of Dick Bennick (aka Dr. Paul Bearer) and his
exploits on Creature Feature. As far as we know it's the only
one of its kind in the world.
The bad news is the extant tapes collection number only about
30 (that is verified to exist from fans).
Sometime during 2007, I may start a more interactive section for fans to
trade tapes independently.
Thanks again for writing! And Happy New Year! ---Nolan
MORE KAPOK TREE RESTAURANT MEMORIES
Nolan,
I was googling for information on the Kapok Tree Restaurant & Inn after a foodie friend made mention of it in another group site and came across a reference in following page:
http://www.crazedfanboy.com/npcr/letterspcr266.html
I remember eating there once when visiting friends who lived in Clearwater, FL at the time. For some reason I seem to remember eating a homemade apple pie which was served with their own homemade cinnamon ice cream.
Do you know if that was one of their specialties? How can I find out and if it is....how can I get that cinnamon ice cream recipe?
Looking forward to a reply...........

Sonia, thanks so much for writing and glad you found something of value on our online publication!
I'm afraid that I, personally, have no insider knowledge of Kapok Tree recipes. You were already on the right track with search engines, that's about all I'd know what to do.
I am, however, publishing your inquiry in this week's Lettercol and see if it gets any responses.
Thanks again for writing and Happy New Year! ---Nolan
