Thank God, the murderous deadly African Cobra that was loose in NYC, has been found. Whew! The infant snake that was the width of a pencil and 24 inches long has been found in the Reptile House at the museum in which it resides. It never was running amok in the streets of NYC.

All the media outlets that I saw portrayed a huge dangerous Cobra that had escaped and was a current threat. Images of the many nuclear spawned insect movies from the 1950's filled my head. I expect a cable TV movie on SyFy, "Killer Cobra in New York".

So I thought I would share some of my favorite bug movies.

"Tarantula" (1955) Starring Leo G. Carroll. I think I may have originally seen this on Dr. Paul Bearer's "Creature Feature", and it is still one my favorites.

"Them" (1954), starring James Whitmore and James Arness. Huge Ants terrorize the desert but make their way towards California.

"Phase IV" (1974), actual ant colonies attempt to take over mankind!

Some other bug movies for your perusal,

"Empire of the Ants" (1977), from www.Imdb.com, "Sleazy scam artist Joan Collins tries to sell phony real estate deals down in the Florida everglades..."

"Frogs" (1972), starring Ray Milland and Sam Elliot. This is a classic early 70's movie when horror movies were trying to placate to the ordinary movie viewer.
