Outbreak Company: Episode One POSTED BY JASON FETTERS, February 11, 2014 Share
Meet Shin段chi Kano, a hikikomori high school student, who decides on a whim to look online for a job, in order to, break out of his self-imposed seclusion. Shin段chi has a job interview with Jinzaburo Matoba, who works for the government. Matoba tells Shin段chi that he is the ideal candidate due to his otaku interests. Suddenly, Shin段chi wakes up in bed that is not his home and is greeted by the shy and cute maid, Myucel Foaran who takes care of him. Next, he meets Minori Koganuma, who works for Japan Self-Defense Forces. Minori provides just the right touch of fan service without overdoing it. Shin段chi opens a curtain and peeks out the window to see a fantasy world with a majestic castle off in the distant and flying dragons. It is the perfect world for lovers of Lord of the Rings and the Final Fantasy series. After watching episode one, I feel that Outbreak Company is off to a great start. The characters are likeable, even the hardcore otaku, Shin段chi, doesn稚 come across as too creepy. I feel like I could invest a half hour getting to know them all. The animation is gorgeous, with rich colors and details that make the magical world called the Eldant Empire look impressive. As this is just a quick glance at episode one, I need to finish up the series to find out how well the plot plays out. I have a feeling I will like it and if you are a fantasy fan there is something in Outbreak Company for you. Currently streaming on Crunchyroll. "The Asian Aperture" is ©2014 by Jason Fetters.
