Music MathersFrom Jets to Forgetters
POSTED BY VINNIE BLESI, February 18, 2015    Share

Blake Schwarzenbach one of the founding members of the American punk band, Jawbreaker, which broke up in 1996, went on to produce three of the greatest unrecognized indie rock releases under the moniker of Jets to Brazil from 1997 to 2003. He began teaching in the Department of English at Hunter College after that. His lack of presence left a void in the world of indie rock. In 2008 he started exploring new musical projects which included The Thorns of Life which never took fruition.

In 2009 he started his latest band Forgetters. After releasing an EP in 2010 a full album was released in 2012 called just "Forgetters". "Forgetters" starts off with two songs that are drenched in heavy distorted guitar. A throwback to Jawbreaker

All of the songs on this cd highlight what a gifted songwriter he is. The CD seems to decelerate the punk element evident in the first few tracks., culminating in "Ribbonhead" which could be a Jets to Brazil track. Plus as a bonus a great rocking version of "The Human League" track "Seconds"
