Couch Potato Confessions by Vinnie B.
The adventures of a boy and his personal video recorder.

Ronald who?
CBS television has bowed to the conservative right and has cancelled the Ronald Reagan mini-series planned for this month. They do plan on showing it sometime later on Showtime, which still has the right-wingers up in arms, claiming the mini-series “taints the Reagan legacy”.

First off this is not a documentary; it is a dramatization. And to suggest that just because the stars of the series, James Brolin and Judy Davis, who are political active and liberals are involved in some left-wing conspiracy is just plain ludicrous. I find that an insult to the professionalism of both of these fine actors.

The other big controversy is Reagan saying in the series, "They that live in sin shall die in sin," referring to homosexuals. While this may not be an actual quote, it certainly is consistent with Ronald Reagan’s views on homosexuals and the Aids epidemic at the time.

For some reason I’ll never understand why the American people have considered Ronald Reagan a wonderful president. I am still waiting for the “trickle down economics” to work. It hasn’t worked for either Bush and for a party that claims they want less government they certainly know how to run up the deficit.

I say show the mini-series and let the American viewers decide. Big Brother is always busy re-writing history, so what’s one more revision. And besides ole Ronald doesn’t even know what day it is so he won’t mind a bit.

Fall TV Update
“The Mullets” have already seen the programmer’s hatchet, while the awful “Whoopi” has been ordered for a full season. NBC got gun-shy and pulled “Coupling” immediately. I admit I didn’t see that one coming.

“Joan of Arcadia” has already kicked Alicia Silverstone’s butt. I guess it pays to have God on your side. “Two and Half Men” and “Navy NCIS” also look to be hits, as I predicted. And, oh yea, that “Survivor” thing is still around.
