Birthday Watch. Yes crazed fans, believe it or not, it has already been a year since the birthday that would've been NolanCon was celebrated in much humbler fashion at the Durango Steakhouse/Bar & Grill on Westshore Blvd, in Tampa, Sunday, August 13th, 2005. This year, William Moriaty and I are forgoing our usual Sunday night at the Hooters on Gandy (with accompanying drinking binge by yours truly) to relocate said activity to the now more traditional Durango in commemoration of me turning 51. Anyone not locked into a same-day event for Fidel Castro (yes, the Cuban dictator turns 80 the same day -- weird, huh?), is invited to join us at the Durango (1200 N. Westshore Blvd, Tampa) this Sunday, August 13th, at 7:00pm for food, drinks, and general revelry. This will be an even more casual affair than last year, so don't worry about anything except showing up and having a good time. Hope to see you there! The Return of Andy Lalino's "Oddservations". After a 9-month absence from these pages, the controversial Andy Lalino is back with an all-new Oddservations column. After what seems like a long, dry period for writers this year, it's certainly good to see some of my old stable returning to the fold! Welcome back, Andy. Tampa Film Review reminder! The next Tampa Film Review, presented by 1 Day Films, will be held on Friday, August 11 from 8 – 10 p.m. at International Bazaar, located at 1600 E. Eighth Ave. in the Centro Ybor Complex. The Tampa Film Review is a monthly showcase of local independent films and is held every second Friday of the month and is free. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
