CAN'T WAIT
This week Olivia Harrison announced that Martin Scorsese will direct a documentary about her late husband, George. Scorsese, who started in films as an editor on “Woodstock” and has the classic music films “The Last Waltz” and “No Direction Home” already on his resume’, has been told that he will have access to all of the Beatles’ music as well as input from Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. Scorsese’s next musical venture is “Shine a Light,” a documentary on the Rolling Stones, due later this year.
BARRY BONDS
Played his last game as a Giant this week. Good. Now get the fuck out of baseball before you drive your father screaming from his grave.
Incidentally, thanks to fans who know what’s what, homerun ball #756 will be heading to the Hall of Fame with a great big (*) on it. The ball will be displayed according to Hall of Fame officials.
IF A MIME DIES DOES HE MAKE A SOUND?
Sad to see Marcel Marceau passed away. Like him, I’m speechless.
LOOK OUT RONNIE
This week the murder trial of record producer Phil Spector ended in a hung jury, with the group stuck at a 10-2 deadlock. No word on whether it was to acquit or convict Spector in the death of actress Lana Clarkson. The district attorney has said he will retry the case. Hopefully Phil will lose the lion’s mane he sported most of the trial by then.
EXTRA, EXTRA
Steven Spielberg is livid after an extra on the new “Indiana Jones” film revealed a major plot theme. The extra, who was featured as a dancer in the scene, so enraged Spielberg that he is considering reshooting the scene so that the blabbermouth is not featured.
