THIS WEEK'S ISSUE
- 1. Ref--ED Tucker's letter: the majority of "Jaws 2" was filmed at and near Ft. Walton Beach. Filming began in August 1977 with the shark being fried on December 23rd! Sorry to see no mention of the filmed in Tampa classic, "The Norsemen," starring Lee Majors.
- 2. Nolan, if I remember correctly, the character of Shrek was originally to be voiced by the late Chris Farley. Mike Myers stepped in as a friend much as George Burns did when he replaced Jack Benny in the film version of "The Sunshine Boys."
- 3. THE GREAT BENZINI!! Long time readers should know that Ben has been mentioned 10 times since the PCR began (9 by me, 1 by Scott Gilbert). Ben and I shared many adventures in our youth and actually shared a house after high school. His mother, Mary, was a very important influence on my life. Welcome aboard.
CONGRATS
As predicted here last issue, Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" did indeed win the grand prize at the Cannes Film Festival. Moore is hoping to have the film released around the 4th of July. "What, Spider-Man 2 is sold out!? 2 tickets to the Michael Moore movie, please."
CONSUMER TIP
When I bought a new car in June 2002, I was offered something called GAPP Insurance for the low price of $499. Best money I ever spent. What it did was provide additional coverage on my car. Should it ever be stolen and not recovered, or totaled in an accident, the policy would pay off the car. That being said, I am now the proud owner of a 2004 Honda CRV. And, yes, I took the GAPP Insurance!
TOP 10 CHALLENGE
As noted a few issues back, the list of the 50 WORST songs ever was compiled by Blender magazine. I would like to challenge PCR staff and readers alike to send in their own Top 10 List of the Worst Songs Ever. The only requirement is that the song had to have made one of the various top 40 lists. Good luck!
MEET THE BEATLES - PART 18
May 27, 1966 - John and George attend a concert at the Royal Albert Hall featuring Bob Dylan backed up by The Band. It is on this tour that Dylan put aside his folk image and pulled out an electric guitar. While the crowd booed, Lennon and Harrison cheered wildly.
Well, all for now, Have a great week. See ya!
