A LONG TIME AGO...
Happy 30th Birthday to "Star Wars," which first hit theatres this week in 1977. Anyone else see it at Tampa Bay Center?
To honor this milestone, AtomFilms is sponsoring an "Official Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge." The finalists of the best fan made films can be seen and voted on at www.atomfilms.com/2007/starwars/challenge/index.jsp Enjoy!
MOVIE NOTES
I neglected to mention this in my review this week of "POTC 3," but if you do see it I'd suggest you endure the running of the end credits. You will be rewarded for your time.
Robert Rodriguez has signed to direct a new, updated version of the 1960s Jane Fonda film, "Barbarella." Since Rodriguez recently went public with his new honey, "Grindhouse" star Rose McGowan, I'm curious if he will cast her in the lead role.
IDOL MUSIC
If you caught the finale of "American Idol" this week you were probably shocked to hear a medley of Beatles music towards the end of the program. There had been rumors all year that the show had worked out a deal to use the songs, even suggesting that Paul McCartney would be a guest judge. No Macca this year, but it looks like the songs have been freed. Also, this week McCartney authorized his solo work as well as his music from his Wings era to be made available for download.
WHATEVER HAPPENED TO...? CHAPTER 21: ON HIATUS
