Nolan B. Canova productions presents:
"The OSCAR nominations" How did we--er--Mike do? by Nolan B. Canova |
Michael A. Smith was the only PCR contributor to send in a list of Oscar nomination guesses, but let's all try to give him a little more competition when the Awards are a little closer, shall we? Immediately below is the original table with his choices. Anything that didn't make it has a line thru it, and the "corrections" are in red. Mike, as you'll see, and as always, shows an almost prophet-like ability to forecast these things. I'll be back at the end with some comments.
Incredible, Mike--with a perfect score for "Best Actress"! (I think that happened before didn't it?) In Mike's original piece, he commented that "Momento", while a blazingly original film, is usually not the type that takes Oscars for anything other than Best Original Screenplay. It is worth noting that it IS nominated for that, just as he suspected. "Memento" is the movie Mike and I saw together
when he visited Tampa last year, so has additional fond memories for me.---Nolan.
