Mad Matt's Plastic People

"YOU WANTED THE BEST, AND YOU GOT THE BEST......THE HOTTEST BAND IN THE LAND....!"
THE MISFITS!!!

The Misfits

Yea, Yea, I know...but I've always loved that intro every time I heard it!

Today's topic is sort of a 3-part thingy. There's music, there's real band-type people...and there's toys!

Now to save myself a whole bunch-o-writing, all I have to do is write about the toy part. I'll leave the music--and REAL people--in the quite capable hands of that Hollywood girl, Mizz Ashley.

I'm all giggley-n-stuff! It feels like Halloween in April! This is a lot of fun for me because these collectable action guys not only represent the MisFiTs, but they are made by 21st Century toys: the folks that make 99.9% of the military figures that I collect. For some reason the guys at 21st Century decided to slip away, if just for a moment, from their main sourse of income...their military lineup...and make MisFiT figures. Go figure. "Figure", get it?!? Yea well...

These guys were released in 1999 and according to the back of the box you can "COLLECT ALL FOUR!!!", although I only have two...and have never seen the other guys...hmmmmm??? I've tried to contact 21st about this, but no one there seems to know anything about any thing. Typical. Anyway...these guys look really good for 21st's first attempt at something other than military guys. The headsculpts are sort of generic-looking. I mean they look like them...but not quite...ya know?

The costumes and goodies on the other hand...look pretty damn good! My camera is on its way out, so the above pics don't show a lot of detail, but the costumes are very authentic-looking right down to the material and MisFiTs skull logos. The really cool part is the instruments. Doyle Wolgang Von Frankenstein's guitar, "The Annihilator" looks like you could just plug it in and start jammin'! The same with Jerry Only's bass,"The Devastator". These axes have real steel strings. You can't tune 'em, but ya can pluck 'em! Plink...Plink!!!

Unfortunatly, these guys were released before 21st created their now very popular "SUPER BODY" (a double-jointed, very posable body), but if you want to you can switch heads...and hands in Jerry's case...to one of these new bods, resulting in a very posable MisFiT. But at the same time losing any collectable value. My suggestion: LEAVE THEM ALONE!!!

These guys also come in a coffin-shaped box with pics of the real guys on the side...very cool!!! And like the box says... "Heading into the new millennium there are no boundaries...there are no rules...we take no prisoners...our goal is to be the best ever! You have been warned!"

Wow...that's weird...we say that here at PCR too!

The only place I've seen these guys recently is at the flea market or online at places like Ebay. They range in price (depending on their condition, of course) from $20.00 to $100.00 apiece. Glad I bought mine at Toys-R-We when they first came out!

On my skull scale of 1-5, I have to give the MisFiTs 2.5 skulls. I'll give 'em the other 2.5 when I get the other two band members! Ha, ha...so there.
