Creature's Corner

Hello Everyone

Yeah, I know, two weeks in a row. I must be coming down with something. Here in the castle we just finished making space for the stuff from "FREE COMIC BOOK DAY!!!!!!!!!!!" I know, a little over the top. Then again, this publication goes a little over the top on occasion. Anyway, I promised a peak at what was available during "F.C.B.D." so here it is.

Gemstone Publishing gave us a sneak peek at their soon-to-be-released Disney titles with "Donald Duck Adventures." Yes, we are going to see Disney titles back on the rack beginning this summer. How cool is that?!?!?! They will begin with Uncle Scrooge, Donald Duck Adventures, and Walt Disney's Comics and Stories. Other participants included DC, Marvel, CG Entertainment, Dark Horse, Dreamwave, Future Comics, Image Comics, Archie Comics, among several others. I hope it was as successful as last year's endeavor. Last year coincided with the release of "Spider-Man", this year it was "X-2."

Speaking of X-2, all I can say is, WWWOOOWWW!! Call the fire department 'cause this one's HOT!! I won't spoil anything by reviewing it because that has already been taken care of by my esteemed colleagues. Instead I'll just say that I give it a shrieking 4 screams on the Creature scale. I really enjoyed it. Over $80 million in the first week ain't too shabby either. Those who live in the castle's "shadows" became quite active after seeing it. That doesn't happen often.

One last thing before I have to tend to the restlees spirits which abound within these walls is a question: What does Batman and Edgar A. Poe have in common? They're partners, of course. How is that possible you ask? In DC's Elseworlds, anything is possible. The five part story is written by Len Wein with art by Guy Davis, inks by John E. Workman, and colors by Jeremy Cox. The story takes place in Baltimore, Maryland in the year 1831. To supplment his writing, Poe takes on a job as an apprentice reporter. There have been two gruesome murders in town and a shadowy figure is seen around the crime scenes. The shadows are like a Raven's so they are dubbed the "Raven" murders. Both of the victims belong to the upscale Gotham Club, the hangout of the Baltimore elite gentlemen. Of course Bruce Wayne is one of its members. Anyway, while looking at one of the crime scenes, Poe runs into the cloaked figure of the man associated with the "Raven" murders. Sound interesting? Then get out there and pick up the DC Elseworld story "Nevermore." The first two installments have been released and the story is holding my interest. The art carries a dark, mysterious overtone and the writing is done to fit the period. So far it looks really good and I look forward to the rest of the story.

Anyway, I don't want to overstay my welcome as I need To take care of those who reside within the castle. Until next week, I bid you a fond farewell!!! C-Ya!!!!!!!!!!!
