Hmmm...where to start...Hellraiser??? Spawn??? I just don't know...how about a little-o-both!?!
First, let me get this out of my system--I think McFarlane's Spawn figures are cheaply made SHIT!!!
Yes,they look awesome. But once you release them from their plastic prisons (blister box, whatever)
and they try to run away...THEIR ARMS AND LEGS SNAP OFF!!! Bad Todd!
Next...Clive Barker's Hellraiser films. YAWN...ZZZZ...is it over yet??? I mean, does each movie really
have to take 9 1/2 hours to tell one part of the story!?! But much like Mr.McSpawn, the critters are most awesome!
Enough! I could go on but, we already have people that review flicks and folks here at PCR, and it ain't me.
On to the plastic!
It seems that Clive and Todd have gotten together and finally made something worthwhile.
A set of five beautifully disfigured, limited edition, 12in. collectable figures, that DON'T fall apart in your hands!
I have four of these so far...I'm having a REALLY hard time finding the last one to complete my collection.
These figures were released in 2001/2002 and only available at select stores (Spencer's, EBX, Sam Goody). They also realeased six new characters in late 2002, but these guys are the standard 6-8in.,
Spawn-sized stuff...
If you want a conversational piece, put these guys in your living room! Don't hide these in your "secret toy room", put them where the whole world can see them. That way, all your friends can say "Gee Bob, we didn't know how f***ed up you really were! Are these you're nipple clips on the table too!?!"
The detail on these guys is the standard AWESOME that you've come to expect from McFarlane,
but even more because of their size -- the blood splatters, cuts, peeled skin, exposed muscle, (Oooo...I'm gettin' all goose bumpy-n-stuff) are so much more realistic in 12in.then they are in the little guys.
Unfortunatly, they are not very articulated, some have arms, heads, and waists that have very limited movement, some not even that. But it's OK, you really only need to pose them once! That is IF you take them out of the box in the first place. Remember, these are NOT TOYS, these are LIMITED COLLECTORS FIGURES and at $50.00 a pop...well, you know!
Well kids, that's about all I have to say about that. If you would like some extra info on these guys or the upcoming film "Tortured Souls" by Clive/Todd, check out these two sites: Clivebarker.com and
Spawn.com.
I never thought I'd do this for a McSpawn thing, but I'll give these creations 5 skulls.
Luv ya (Yuck!!!) |
